Annual Quiz night 2024

We raised nearly $7,000 at our Quiz Night! You can only imagine how excited we are for that result and it was a really fun, successful night!
Our success was possible because of the contribution of time, talent and dedicated commitment by all. A special thank you to the community who came along.  Outcomes don't happen like this without having an amazing people around us.   Be proud! 
Just think of all the well deserving kids we can help with these funds and the lives you are transforming.

An exciting night for families and to celebrate overcoming diversity.  A warm thank you to all the people who stepped forward to come along to our Event. We were thrilled by the number of people who came from the Waipa community.

Fun with Numbers Pilot scheme

Fun with Numbers is a programme set out to help immigrant and former refugee children new to New Zealand, under the umbrella of Mathematics For A Lifetime Trust.

  • Learn the local language and culture of Aotearoa

  • Connect with other immigrant families

  • Realise that maths is globally the same and a starting point to confidence in schools in a new country

  • Practice and develop maths skills in a safe space.

    Fun with Numbers is a collaboration between Hamilton City Council, paid coordinator role (MFAL funded), Volunteer Waikato (tutors), Silverdale Normal school (students in need), MFAL (maths resources and knowledge).

Designers; Impact Tutoring; Jean McKenzie, Hamish McAlley

Allocated to; 50 selected students at Te Awamutu Intermediate School, 

Te Awamutu. Level 2, Yr 7 & 8 classes

Programme dates; Term 2, 2023

Overall aim;

To create confident pupils, who have the key skills they need in numeracy, are then more motivated and better able to keep up with their peers at high school

Objectives;

  1. To provide the teachers with up-to-date and relevant resources for their Maths programme based on targeted topics considered essential for High school.

  2. To provide teachers with a new tool which will help them with their classroom programme. 

  3. Offers the pupils a different way to learn

  4. Allows the teachers to meet individual needs

  5. Allows parents to access the course to develop their knowledge and understanding of techniques. If the school chooses to use this this way. 

  6. Offers the teachers a a tool that can be used in a variety of ways

Annual Quiz Event - May 2023

We are sending you a huge, heartfelt thank you for the awesome support you all gave us for our fundraising event.
Our evening was a huge success and we raised just over $6,000 for our kiwi kids!  
A massive thanks to all who donated and contributed to our amazing cause.

  Our underprivileged Kiwi Kids & Youth, will be thrilled!     

We are in awe of our major sponsor Keith Pennell - Pennell Brown Accountants.  His generosity and support for MFAL is just unbelievable and we are so grateful to have him.
We could not have done this without you all and your community spirit does not go unnoticed.
